Clinical tools
Standalone tools in the sidebar's Tools group. Not tied to a specific patient or session: useful for hypothetical scenarios, education, or quick lookups.
Available tools
| Tool | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Library | Screeners, routines, and resources you can assign to families |
| Growth Chart | Plot weight, height, BMI on WHO, CDC, or Fenton without saving to a patient |
| DRI Calculator | Calorie estimation (Harris-Benedict) and USDA nutrient targets |
| Meal Planning | Generate meal plans outside of a session |
| Nutrition Lookup | Nutrition facts for foods and infant formulas |
| Recipes | Browse the recipe library and create your own |
Growth Chart
Plot measurements against a reference chart without saving to a patient. Useful for hypothetical scenarios, education, and quick visual checks.
Available charts
| Picker option | Use for | Metrics |
|---|---|---|
| WHO (0-5 years) | Infants and toddlers | Weight, Height, BMI, Head Circumference |
| CDC (2-20 years) | Standard US reference | Weight, Height, BMI |
| Fenton (preterm) | Preterm growth (Fenton 2025 reference) | Weight, Height, Head Circ. (no BMI) |
For preterm patients, enter Gestational Age (22–42 weeks) and use the Corrected age toggle to adjust for prematurity.
Output
- Percentile curves with the patient's points plotted per metric
- Data table with percentiles, z-scores, and a Monthly Gain column
- Print Charts and PDF Report buttons
To track measurements for a real patient, use the patient record: Trends → Growth.
DRI Calculator & Nutrition Lookup
Two separate sidebar tools for nutrition analysis.
DRI Calculator
Inputs: date of birth, gender, weight, height, and activity level (Active is the default; Sedentary, Lightly active, and Very active are the others). All are required before calculation.
Output:
- Calorie Estimation (Harris-Benedict): BMR (kcal/day at rest) and TDEE (kcal/day total), with a "See Formula Details" button. Note in the tool: Harris-Benedict is most accurate for ages 13+; use the DRI values for younger children.
- Nutrient targets from the USDA Dietary Reference Intakes (NASEM, 2023), adjustable per nutrient.
Use it for building custom targets, education, or validating a plan against published recommendations.
Nutrition Lookup
Search foods and infant formulas: results combine verified ingredients, infant formulas, and the USDA food database.
- Pick a Portion Size (100g base or listed portions) with a quantity multiplier
- Nutrition Facts panel plus a separate Vitamins block
- Formulas get a "Formula" badge with base calories
Detailed walkthroughs and example queries coming soon.
Meal Planning
Generate a meal plan outside of a session: useful for education or hypothetical scenarios. Same generator as Step 4: Nutrition Guidance, minus the patient record.
Inputs
| Input | Notes |
|---|---|
| Date of Birth, Gender, Weight, Height, Activity Level | All required; age in days computes automatically |
| Plan type | Magic (AI-optimized) · Easy and quick · Get more protein · More veggies and fruits · Introduce allergens · Introduce new foods · Family meals · Use few ingredients · Baby-led weaning |
| Schedule | 1–30 days, with meal-type chips |
| Switches | Allow repeat menus · Family meals |
| Constraints | Allergens to avoid, diet, foods to avoid |
| Infant feeding | Extra block (milk type, vitamin D, pace) for patients under age 2 |
Nutrient targets come from Calculate targets and are adjustable in the Nutrition Planning grid before generating.
Actions
- Generate meal plan builds per-day tabs with a macro breakdown vs target
- Download Meal Plan PDF for sharing
- Clear all resets the form
Plans built here aren't saved to a patient record. To prescribe a plan a family sees in their app, build it inside a session (Step 4) and sign the session.
Recipes
The recipe library at Tools → Recipes: community recipes plus your own.
Browsing
- My Recipes / All Recipes tabs
- Search recipes... box, plus Filters & Sort: sort order, max time, difficulty, and tags
Creating your own
Fully self-serve: click Create Recipe to build one, and edit it later from its detail page. Your recipes become available when adding meals to a plan.
Clinical resources
Coaching articles and guides moved to the sidebar-level Library (Resources section), where they're organized by category and assignable to families. See Library.
