Editing a past session
Draft sessions reopen freely from the Visits tab. Signed sessions are locked; changes go through one of two deliberate paths.
Add Addendum
For additions that don't change the original note.
- Required fields: the addendum text and a reason.
- Stamped with author, credentials, and timestamp; the session status becomes Amended.
- "Addendums are additions made after signing. The original note is never changed."
Unlock to Edit
For actual corrections.
- Requires a typed reason ("Notice of data integrity" panel explains the trade-off).
- The note returns to draft and is hidden from the family until you sign it again.
- Unlock events are recorded permanently, and the session lands back in your needs-review queue until re-signed.
What edits do to documents
PDFs (Summary, Superbill, CMS-1500, Meal Plan) are generated on demand at download time, so a re-download after editing reflects the changes. Copies you already downloaded or saved to cloud are not updated automatically; regenerate and resend if you've already submitted one to a family or payer.
Addendums and unlock events are append-only records. Ordinary field edits before signing don't keep version history, so sign only when the note is final.
