Invitation modes

When you add a patient, you choose one of two modes. Both grant premium access; only one shares data back.

Without provider connection

What the family gets:

  • Full premium access to the patient app(s) you invited them to.
  • No prompt to connect to your practice.
  • They stay on your active patient list — but no data flows back.

When to use:

  • Hand-out at a well-child visit.
  • Patient curious about the platform but not formally under your care.
  • Quick way to give a referral a head start.

With provider connection

What the family gets:

  • Full premium access to the patient app(s).
  • A prompt to enter your connection code on first launch — see The connection code.
  • After HIPAA consent, their logs flow back to your patient record.

When to use:

  • Patients in active care with your practice.
  • Any scenario where you'll want to review food logs, growth data, or other clinical signals between visits.

Switching modes later

Re-issue the invite from the patient's Settings tab. The old code is invalidated; a fresh one is generated for the new mode. See Resending invites & re-onboarding.
