Heartful Sprout
The main patient app for pediatric nutrition. Best when your work with the family centers on what they're feeding — meal planning, food exploration, recipes, allergen tracking, healthy-eating education.

Meal Plan tab — deeper detail
The tab most patients spend time in when you're doing nutrition counseling.
Meal slots
Six slots per day, planned independently:
- Breakfast
- Morning Snack
- Lunch
- Afternoon Snack
- Dinner
- Night Snack
Generation & editing
- Auto-generate per slot, using the patient's age, allergens, dietary preferences, and provider-set DRI targets
- Or pick manually from the USDA ingredient database + recipe library
- Real-time nutrition recompute when items are added, swapped, or removed
- MyPlate-style food-group donut visualization on each meal
Where your prescribed plans land
If you've published a meal plan in Step 4 of a session, it lands in this tab automatically. The family sees it as a prescribed plan from you.
Health tab — deeper detail
The home of patient-logged health data, plus your session notes. Five sections:
| Section | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Growth | Weight, height, BMI plotted on WHO (under 2 yr) / CDC (2–20 yr) percentiles; metric/imperial toggle |
| Feeding & Diaper | Breast / bottle / pumping sessions with timer + volume (incl. a 1000+ USDA formula picker with mix ratios), plus diaper counts |
| Nutrition | Rollup with macro donut, food-group breakdown, allergen summary |
| Reaction Notes | Food reactions: date, symptoms from a picker, free-text note |
| Doctor's Notes | Your session notes, timestamped and collapsible |
Ingredient introduction lives on the Home tab's tracker rather than under Health.
Grocery tab
Auto-populates from the active meal plan. Supports barcode scanning to add packaged foods, with NutriSense / NOVA scoring, allergen / additive / choking-hazard warnings, and full nutrition facts panels.
Community tab
Patient social layer (Stream Chat). Topic-based channels, threaded replies, URL previews, unread badges, DMs with avatars, user following, discovery feed, recipe sharing with likes and comments.
Heads-up: clinicians can be the subject of patient discussion here. Worth knowing it exists; you don't manage it.
What you see when connected
When a patient has entered your invite code and given HIPAA consent, the following flows back to your patient record:
- Feeding logs (breast, bottle, pumping)
- Growth measurements
- Food reactions and allergen exposure
- Meal-plan adherence
- Ingredient introduction progress
- Nutrition adherence vs. the DRI targets you set
For how to review this clinically, see Working together — between visits.
Onboarding & engagement
- In-app guided tours on every tab (powered by react-native-copilot)
- Push + email reminder cadence for incomplete onboarding
- Clinician-prefilled onboarding when the patient is invited from your practice
- Biometric login (Face ID / fingerprint) for fast return sessions
